Hand-n-Hand Leadership Program

Serving People with a Mission’s Hand-n-Hand Leadership Program is a youth-driven initiative designed to empower teenagers and young adults to succeed in their fields and become bridge builders in their communities. Through a focus on servant leadership, civic engagement, and philanthropy, the program provides students with the skills, networks, and experiences they need to create meaningful impact.

The program is built on three core pillars: Education Workshops, Exposure Trips, and the Philanthropy Project. Together, these components combine personal development with real-world learning, giving young leaders both the knowledge and the practice to lead with purpose.

SPM collaborates with high schools, colleges, local nonprofits, and corporate partners to deliver this transformative experience. These partnerships ensure leaders gain comprehensive education, mentorship, and access to opportunities that prepare them for professional success and community impact.

Beyond leadership training, Hand-n-Hand also serves as a bridge between generations, creating inclusive environments where younger and older individuals connect, collaborate, and learn from one another. By fostering intergenerational mentorship and shared responsibility, the program strengthens communities and builds a culture of lasting, purpose-driven leadership.

Young Executive Coaching Program

The Executive Coaching Program is a strategic initiative designed for college-level leaders in student organizations—such as student governments, clubs, and cultural associations. Serving People with a Mission (SPM) specifically targets key officers in these organizations, including presidents, directors, treasurers, and others, and pairs them with experienced young coaches who have held similar leadership roles.

Over the course of six months, coaches and student leaders (coachees) work closely together with the goal of strengthening leadership skills, building capacity, and preparing students to lead with confidence and impact.

Environmental & Conservation

Serving People with a Mission’s Giving People Donations Drive is a citywide initiative that provides direct donations to underserved individuals and organizations seeking no-cost basic-need resources. Through partnerships with corporate offices, grocery stores, and in-kind donors, SPM collects and redistributes clothing, food, and household essentials—reducing waste while strengthening Chicago’s communities. All donated items are thoroughly cleaned, properly stored, and carefully packaged for safe distribution. Students in SPM’s education programs also source items from Giving People for their philanthropic projects, connecting service, sustainability, and social impact in action. Together, these efforts promote environmental responsibility, empower youth leadership, and ensure resources reach those who need them most.

Resource Partners

The Environmental Team organizes community events in collaboration with Serving People with a Mission’s on-the-ground partners. These events are designed to equip community members with essential resources that support their personal and professional success. One example is our Professional Clothing Resource Event, where emerging leaders can request attire that fits them and their aspirations. Other events focus on providing vital resources such as food, clothing, first aid, and hygiene supplies—ensuring individuals have what they need to thrive.
