Meet Chief Environmental Justice Officer & Chief Communications Officer Sofia Aranda

As a native Chicagoan born and raised on the South Side, I experienced firsthand the challenges of struggling in school, receiving poor report cards, and finding it difficult to make friends. These early experiences shaped my understanding of the importance of community and connection.

Over time, I became more comfortable with socialization. A pivotal moment came when a friend I made offered me a job, highlighting the essential role of networking in achieving success. If I had remained the quiet person I once was, this bio wouldn't exist. This crucial lesson on the power of networking is something I now share with others.

Joining Serving People with a Mission (SPM) allows me to be a valuable network resource, equipping others with the tools to increase their opportunities for success. Building a strong, lasting community requires continuous efforts to forge positive relationships and explore new contributions each of us can bring to the table.

Beyond fostering a robust community, I am committed to raising awareness about environmental issues. My goal is to create cleaner, healthier neighborhoods that benefit everyone.
